Making the Most out of a Trip to Napa Valley

Since 2002, Jeanne Marcis has served as senior multimedia solutions consultant with Clipper Magazine in Illinois. When away from work, Jeanne Marcis enjoys traveling and regularly takes trips to California's Napa Valley.

The best way to begin exploring Napa Valley is by hopping on the Napa Valley Wine Train, a three-hour ride that gives visitors a full view of the valley's landscape while enjoying gourmet food. The train travels through Napa, Oakville, Rutherford, Yountville, and St. Helena.

While most people think primarily of the world-famous wine that comes from Napa Valley, the area is also known for its excellent dining opportunities. Individuals can get a glimpse into the culinary culture by stopping in at the local Culinary Institute of America, which remains a national leader in farm-to-table cuisine. Guests can try out various foods, dine in the restaurant, and even schedule a cooking, baking, or wine course during their visit.

Napa is also known for its art scene. Visitors should set time aside to see the di Rosa art gallery, which covers 217 acres and features more than 2,000 pieces in both indoor and outdoor spaces. Most of the art exhibited is created by local artists, and guests may even encounter some freely-roaming peacocks on the grounds.
