Most visitors flock to Napa Valley during autumn and summer. Summer is a popular time because the city hosts a number of music, art, food, and cultural festivals, including Festival del Sole and Music in the Vineyards. Although average high temperatures between June and August hover around 80 degrees Fahrenheit during the day, these months are the wettest for Napa, with some days experiencing up to 5 inches of rain.

Meanwhile, autumn is Napa’s harvesting season and a popular time to visit for wine enthusiasts. Between September and November, temperatures range from the upper 60s to upper 70s and rainfall drops to just a couple inches. Similar to summertime, autumn rates skyrocket, and reservations for tours and accommodations must be made several months in advance.

Napa experiences its low season from December to February, thanks to cold weather. However, visitors willing to brave temperatures in the 30s and 40s can still find plenty to enjoy in the area. The blooming yellow mustard in the vineyards creates beautiful views. There are also a few holiday events. Further, winter trips grant visitors plenty of opportunities to save money.

Finally, spring brings plenty of greenery and blooming plants that create a colorful experience for travelers. March, April, and May feature warmer temperatures ranging from the mid-60s to mid-70s and plenty of food and wine and art festivals. Rainfall is higher during these months, but visitors have a great opportunity to experience what Napa has to offer outside of wine.
